AIRLIE BEACH FESTIVAL OF MUSIC, THE WHITSUNDAYS QLD – 4 DAYS, 18 STAGES, 74 BANDS & 74 ISLANDS – THURSDAY 9th – SUNDAY 12th NOVEMBER 2017
The 5th Airlie Beach Festival of Music brings 74 acts, including international and Australian legends, to the Whitsundays for 3 and a half days, of spectacular entertainment. It all starts Thursday afternoon with an intimate jam session on the main beach, then an open mike night at Beaches bar. The action fires up on Friday morning in the 18 select venues throughout Airlie Beach. This is the largest event and only one of its format to be positioned in this intimate, coastal and tropical paradise.

The oceanfront festival is situated at the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. The Main Stage is under a massive marquee looking out onto the Coral Sea, at the Whitsunday Sailing Club. Be immersed in the music emanating from stages throughout this idyllic community, dance on the pristine beach sand and bliss out under the stars, take in the sounds and be surrounded by the inexplicable beauty of the Whitsundays.
This year’s sensational Airlie Beach Festival of Music features iconic pioneers from much-celebrated outfits, multi-awarded contemporary singer-songwriters and talented new acts. Passport to Airlie’s ‘Battle of the Bands’ held in August, will see emerging artists from New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and Northern Territory, compete to take their prize position on a stage at the festival also.
This year’s line-up includes; Leo Sayer, who’s remarkable career has spanned almost four full decades and some 15 albums. Along the way, Leo has created a long string of iconic international chart-toppers, classic songs for the ages, from his first worldwide hit in 1973 with “The Show Must Go On”, right through to the dance remix of “Thunder On My Heart”, which topped the UK charts as recently as 2006. Plus a dozen other major hits in between – some of the most enduring and beloved popular songs of all time.

The fabulous Kate Ceberano, she’s been Australia’s high priestess of pop, an award-winning jazz singer, wears the hat of a fine artistic director and, above all that; Kate Ceberano is a songwriter with the talent to take a tune to the top of the charts.

Shannon Noll, Noll’s everyman appeal lies in his honesty. He possesses the knack of striking a chord with legions of music fans, jacking into a pure emotion that’s both his own and instantly relatable.

One of Australia’s hottest bands, The Chantoozies. The last few years have seen The Chantoozies release two new singles, appear on countless TV/radio shows and continue to wow audiences throughout Australia (most recently, with Rick Astley and also as part of the ‘Gold FM Concert’ series) with their special blend of rock and pop.

Located 1,000 kilometres north of Brisbane, the Whitsunday Coast Airport is serviced by TigerAir, Jetstar and Virgin Airlines with direct flights from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Transfers are available from Proserpine and Hamilton Island airports.
