There has never been a better reason to head out for a mid-week hit of live music than there will be this Wednesday, March 29th. With Newcastle’s rising star, Dan Southward bringing his ‘Water And Wine’ tour to one of Newcastle’s premier live music venues, Lizotte’s.
Dan Southward is an Americana, Indie, Roots, singer-songwriter with a powerful gravelly voice, yet smooth and soothing as honey. Dan is a true storyteller, his songs sometimes deep and dark are a story book of life dripping with honesty and raw emotion.
Joining Dan on stage will be his airtight band including the very talented Bodes Wardrop (drums), Brennan fell (Bass), Adam Della Grotta (guitar) and to top it off on backing vocals De’may and Melody Pool, two oh so very talented singer-songwriters in their own right.
Special guests on the night will be Andy Golledge and Caitlin Harnett. Andy wears his heart on his sleeve and takes the listener on an emotional roller coaster through the highs and lows of life, love, and existence. The light and shade of life are reflected back to the audience, creating a shared experience that can transcend the everyday. Beautifully crafted lyrics ask us to stop, think and feel while the music begs us to sing along and move our feet. Much more than just another alt-country or folk singer he’s a troubadour, a wild man, a gentle soul – at times all of these at once.
Caitlin Harnett hails from Sydney, Australia but her songs evoke Laurel Canyon of the early 1970s. They share the personal and poetic nature of Joni Mitchell and Jackson Browne’s early songs, along with the fragility of Judee Sill, youthful in their outlook but with age-old concerns at their core. Combined with her guitar, banjo, and harmonica, her songs have the lilt of folk, a touch of pop and the honesty of Americana. Caitlin is one of the youngest signings to Mushroom Music Publishing, Australia’s largest independent music publisher. She has been recognised both internationally and locally for her songwriting.
