Our Gallery from the Josh Rennie-Hynes gig at the Stag & Hunter Hotel – Thursday, September 29th.
Josh Rennie-Hynes kicked off the first of his shows on the ‘Furthermore’ Tour last night at the Stag & Hunter. It may of been a small crowd at The Stag, but the room was jam packed with enthusiasm for this talented singer songwriter, with his soulful folk, alt. country tunes leaving the crowd wanting more, more, more!

Josh Rennie – Hynes ‘Furthermore’
Josh Rennie-Hynes is currently touring Australia and New Zealand celebrating the release of his second album ‘Furthermore’. ‘Furthermore’ was recorded in Rennie-Hynes’ personal studio, on his Family farm in Woodford, Queensland. Over the period of three weeks, working everyday from morning until late night, Rennie-Hynes produced, engineered and recorded all of the songs alongside his friend, Steve Grady. Together, they played the bulk of the instruments, with a focus on capturing the essence of each
song and building it from a bed rock live performance of just Rennie-Hynes and a Guitar. The result is an album which is organic, cohesive, yet also eclectic, with Rennie-Hynes’ warm and assured vocal providing the common thread throughout.
The latest single from the album ‘Picture Frame’ is a hauntingly beautiful song with a driving drum beat, crunchy electric guitars, weeping pedal steel and Josh’s distinctive vocal at the centre of it all. The film clip for ‘Picture Frame’ was shot in the Northern NSW Hinterland, Rennie-Hynes explains “We found some great locations, it’s a beautiful part of Australia; The Cane fields, the Mountains, The Rivers. We managed to gain access to shoot in a historic Homestead that was built in the late 1800’s. Stepping inside, it literally felt like a movie set, everything appeared to be in the same place as it would have been 120 years ago, except with a layer of dust and cobwebs.”
