It has been a huge year for Newcastle songstress, LYN BOWTELL, 2017 began with Lyn collecting 3 Golden Guitar Awards and then turning all 4 judges chairs and joining Team George on The Voice.
Amid an already hectic schedule, Bowtell managed to make time to write and record her new release ‘Calling You’ which was released on Friday, September 15. This six-track EP marks a distinct departure in musical style from her roots in alternative/pop country brimming with the singer’s soulful, striking vocals and connecting deeply with raw emotion as only Bowtell can.
The first single ‘He Burns’ is a cover of a song by Irish singer/songwriter Foy Vance. Lyn has said that as a songwriter she might have in the past avoided doing a cover but this song really speaks to her, with so much emotion packed into 3 minutes and she can’t help but smile when she sings it. A great song is just a great song.
The new EP ‘Calling You’ was recorded on the Central Coast, NSW with producer Shane Nicholson at the helm, and once again Lyn and Shane have proven a formidable team.
Standout tracks including the first single He Burns, All My Life, Calling You and Fields Of Gold highlight the powerful and sublime voice that turned heads and 4 red chairs on national television in Channel Nine’s The Voice Australia earlier this year.
Now the SIX TIME GOLDEN GUITAR WINNER is heading in a new direction, with a broader, wider audience ready to follow.
‘I’m no longer willing to be confined in a ‘genre box’ anymore. I want to show a bigger audience my full range as a singer and songwriter. I feel so connected to these 6 tracks, they are bright, bold and exciting. I can’t wait to share them, live and recorded’, said BOWTELL.
