MID CITY is back, and they’ve brought with them their most visceral and hard-hitting track yet. The new single “Fake Friends Forever” takes the sound you know from this alternative rock act and blows it out of the water.  Following on from their debut EP Die Waiting, released in April this year, MID CITY continues to astound us with this fresh new cut.

In conjunction with the single release, the band are announcing the “Fake Friends Forever” international tour including showcases at BIGSOUND (Brisbane) and Reeperbahn Festival (Hamburg, Germany) as well as shows in the UK, The Netherlands and an East Coast Tour of Australia.

Again working with producer Oscar Dawson, (Holy Holy, Alex Lahey, Ali Barter), the track is laden with an anthemic chorus and addictive melodies, yet another electrifying glimpse of what is to come from this Melbourne band.

Singer Joel Griffith elaborates on the lyrical inspiration, asking “When did the wider world become so full of bluster and bullshit? More to the point, when did it become totally viable for the 99% of us who aren’t as-yet-undiagnosed sociopaths to behave like complete geese for our own self-aggrandizement – for our ‘Personal Brand’? Is this not bat shit crazy?  Anyone else seeing straight through the facade of false bravado and fake friends? These days it seems easier than ever to pretend your way to the top. I wonder what’s left when you get there.”

MID CITY had an immensely positive reaction to their debut EP, in particular with their bone-rattling single “Old Habits”.  The lead single hit #9 most played on triple j, has clocked over 1.25 million streams across all platforms, hit #25 on the German College Radio charts, received a Clash Mag UK video premiere and a swathe of impressive reviews. Tracks from Die Waiting received numerous national and international playlist additions, including Australian and German Viral 50, Fidi & Bumsi (GER), Volume (UK), New Noise (US) and more, and received significant attention at a stack of German radio stations.

MID CITY continues to win over fans with their disarming and exhilarating live set – they’ve sold out their several Melbourne headline shows, played Hills Are Alive Festival, supported Press Club on their national tour and are now pumped to take their show to the world.
