Melbourne Alt Country Duo, Miles And Simone have released a hot new video for ‘She And I‘ the first single dropped from their new EP ‘Cool Your Jets’ out this November.
Grab your lover and run towards the shore, as Miles and Simone return with the perfect soundtrack to cure the winter blues, and now with heart-tugging visuals to boot. The quintessential single ‘She And I’ will take you on a journey to the sea in a beat-up old Corolla, and engulf you in a tidal wave of wistful charm and theatrics.
Birthed from an untoward happenstance for guitarist and vocalist Miles O’Neil, ‘She And I’ began behind the stage curtain of Melbourne’s Basement Discs record store when a meeting with an old dust-gathering nylon-string acoustic was to become the catalyst for the track.
“Usually I wake up to find moments like these were just tricks, the song turning out to be rubbish and going in the bin, but, after the gig, back at home, this one came together easy as a batch of scones and felt immediately like a shift in energy from previous songs I’d been writing for Miles & Simone; it felt bigger, as if it wasn’t content to be left alone on an acoustic guitar.” – Miles O’Neil
Directed by Zakaria Garmsiri and lead vocalist Simone Page Jones herself, with production by Leila Koren, the video for ‘She And I’ follows a pair of lovers who, when trying to get away from the city, find themselves not quite at the paradise escape they imagined, where a brooding destination patiently awaits.
Cleverly coupling the driving drumbeat courtesy of Pete Luscombe (Paul Kelly & RockWiz) with the love of the road, the getaway is buoyed along by the dreamy slide guitar work of Dan Luscombe (The Drones, Courtney Barnett), and the double-bass rhythms of Jules Pascoe (Jazz Party, JAALA). Place the perfect counterbalance of Miles’ deep baritone vocals with Simone’s stunning harmonies atop all this, and ‘She And I’ become the heart-rattling love story that’ll never leave your head.
The pair of tour-lovers are set to take on Festivals and headline shows on a 12-date run across Victoria, New South Wales, and Tasmania this July. Starting at Newport Folk Festival, then hitting up Hobart’s Festival of Voices, and the Bello Winter Festival in New South Wales, Miles and Simone will return to Melbourne for a single launch show at The Grace Darling as part of the 2017 Leaps and Bounds Festival before heading to a bunch of regional towns through the support of Regional Arts Victoria.
“Touring the country is the reason we play together. To get out on the road and sing songs and drive around to faraway places and meet new people is the croutons in the soup for us.” – Miles and Simone
