POW! NEGRO RELEASES NEW SINGLE “FLESH OFF THE BONE”

It’s been a big six months for POW! Negro, from gaining industry cred at BIGSOUND showcases to packing out shows across Australia to being handpicked by Midnight Oil to open the stage for their Fremantle show. Throw in a debut EP, an East Coast tour and a stack of upcoming festival dates, POW are adding a new single for good measure.

“Flesh Off The Bone” was launched in their home city of Perth on Saturday just gone, to a SOLD OUT and heaving crowd at Jack Rabbit Slims.

The single explores the negative effects of toxic masculinity that is ever so present in today’s society and is a critique of these attitudes and behaviours.

Frontman Nelson Mondlane explains;
“Within today’s society we as men are taught that our sense of self-worth should be defined by the material possessions we own, the wealth we’ve acquired, the number of sexual partners we have and our capacity to dominate those around us. This pressure, both internal and external, has engendered an attitude and behaviour that we as men feel we must adhere to, or else be cast aside. It is as destructive to those around us as it is to ourselves and has done nothing but create a toxic environment for everyone involved.

Everyone is equal, everyone deserves respect and to be able to enjoy themselves without feeling they’re being compromised.”

A POW! Negro live show is infectious, joyous and something well worth submitting yourself to, and is a sentiment shared by many as POW have taken home the WAM Most Popular Live Act trophy for the second year running.
