Last month, cross-hemisphere songstress released her latest pop-soul banger “Cheerleader”, featuring a supercharged chorus laced with rich, thick production. The single was developed over nearly a year, initiated with producer Jesse Sewell (Porsches, Super Cruel) before RIVAH returned to the track 8 months later to add the verses from a beach shack in northern NSW.

Following immediate additions to New Music Friday UK and Spotify’s locally curated New Pop Revolution, the track is now available in video form, directed by RIVAH’s childhood friend Ben Evans of Luminaire Media. The clip was shot in and around the family beach shack in which RIVAH wrote the song, home of the Bundjalung people, the traditional custodians of the land.

RIVAH says “When I was living there I became good friends with a young local guy named Jarulah. I would teach him about singing and writing and he would teach me about the land. I love his family like my own and feature both him and his beautiful girlfriend, Nikeah in the clip”

And speaking of waiting it out, just yesterday, the mammoth showcasing schedule for BIGSOUND was released and RIVAH is thrilled to be part of the final announcement of the tastemaker event. She’ll be showcasing “Cheerleader”, previous singles “Transitional Love” and “Untame” and new material from her forthcoming EP on Tuesday 4 Sept at the Woolly Mammoth Mane Stage.
