ON STAGE AT THE STAG THIS WEEK – THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH

Swamp House News & Reviews

There are three fabulous nights of original live music at Newcastle’s Stag & Hunter Hotel this week

Thursday, November 17th – Josh Needs is an 18-year-old virtuoso guitarist with a musical brilliance far beyond his years. Hailing from the small coastal town of South West Rocks, Josh’s career highlights have already included collaborations with some of the greatest names in Australian music, to include guitar legends The Emmanuel Brothers (Tommy & Phil) who believe that Josh is a great ambassador for the next generation of Australian guitar players.

‘Josh Needs is one of those unique talents that you know is going to succeed. He reminds me of a young Keith Urban – relentless with his enthusiasm. Ignore him, at your own peril’ – Russell Morris

Friday, November 18th – Ben Mitchell; Indie Pop, Alt-Country, Blues, Folk, Country-Soul – Australian singer-songwriter, Ben Mitchell writes indie-pop/rock, country, blues and folk. A genre-hoping troubadour at heart, Mitchell’s music embraces the heartfelt simplicity and storytelling of country and blues; the authenticity of classic singer-songwriters (like some of his inspirations: John Lennon, Joni Mitchell, Neil Finn and Paul Kelly) and the contemporary eclectic freedom of acts like Calexico, Beck and Prince.

Saturday, November 19th –  Surf Rock, Indie Pop, Roots and Funk, Shag Rock were raised with the jungle vibes of Jinja Safari and the melodic power of Powderfinger. The Brisbane boys love the Queensland lifestyle and its vibrant, indie music scene. They met at school in 2011 and began jamming in Al’s studio where songs such as Fiend or Fox and Little Primitive came to life.
