Although crowd numbers were low, the vibe was that of a packed venue and what it lacked in numbers was made up for tenfold in enthusiasm.
This band is fantastic live, they are fun, engaging and tight; the range and power in front man, Chris Carrabba’s voice is just mind blowing. I don’t like comparing bands but the best way I can describe Twin Forks is a cross between The Lumineers and Of Monsters and Men, but with a style and feel that’s all their own.
This four piece outfit from Florida was born from a desire of Chris Carrabba ‘from Dashboard Confessional fame’ to form a folk/rock band and that he’s done well. Chris himself takes on the vocals and guitar, the angelic Suzie Zeldinmandolin and vocals too. Then there is a damn tight rhythm section with Johnathan Clark, bass and Ben Homola drums.
The band released their first self-titled EP in September, with five great tunes, the standouts for me being “Back to You and Cross My Mind”. With a full album being released in early 2014 I’m sure there are certainly bigger things to come.
Twin Forks tour of Australia is coming to a close but if you’re in Melbourne you can catch them at The Sidney Myer Music Bowl on 14th December.
