Singer/ guitarist/ songwriter/ co producer Andrew Higgs took deliberate measures to ensure this record had different flavours to the band’s critically acclaimed debut record. “It’s got everything a KOTN fan could want plus a few pleasant surprises.” –Higgsy

Friday, September 9th – Annie O’Dee & The Hot Shots – Big dirty blues band from the heart of the steel city, full of heart and soul with lots of feel. They are a handful of night creatures who love the blues, live and play it because it feels so good. Give The People What They Want is certainly an appropriation of Annie O’dee and the Hotshots. After 7 years of constant touring, as one of the most formidable and consequential live Rhythm & Blues acts performing today, they know what their audience wants from them. The eleven songs delivered on ‘Little Trouble Maker’ are seasoned with the unbridled soul you’ve come to expect, yet there’s a freshness in the band’s performance and song writing that gives the group a unique feel. Annie’s voice can be encaptualted in the simple phrase like honey under gravel’. Infact the 2nd track from the album “Honey Pot”, a dark up-tempo mover whose ominous stomping and lush arrangement will demand your full attention, “Mojo Boogie” a classic anthemic feel-good number, and “Love for Sale” a perfect example of the studio expertise that defines the band and their sound. The sharp danceable Rhythm & Blues grooves stick to your bones, the fervent, impassioned singing goes straight to your heart; and those sweet soul hooks stay in your head for days on end. What more could anyone ask for?
