On August 20, 2017, one year ago today, beautiful young Hannah Rye from Kurri Kurri lost her life after battling Ewing Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. She touched many lives during her time on this earth, including Kirsty Lee Akers, her new single dedicated to the young woman who captured hearts across Australia.
In commemoration and remembrance, Kirsty has today released the official music video for the song she penned with Jerry Salley for Hannah, House Full of Flowers (Hannah’s Song).
“The first anniversary of losing someone we love is always the hardest and I was thinking about that when I wrote this song. I wanted House Full of Flowers to be something that remembered Hannah for the beautiful young woman she was, but also as a comfort for her family every time they hear it. I was so incredibly lucky to have Hannah in my life and I hope everyone that hears this song and sees the music video can get a glimpse into what an amazing young woman she was.” – Kirsty Lee Akers
House Full of Flowers (Hannah’s Song) is the second single dropped from Ackers new album ‘Under My Skin’, which was released on 27 July through Indie label, Social Family Records, and is available instore and online. The album sees Kirsty in the producer’s seat for the first time, marking her evolution as an artist. It contains ten masterfully crafted tracks, embodying her distinctive sound, powerful lyrics, and musical influences.
Joining forces, each song was co-written with some of the best songwriters in the industry, including Jerry Salley, Phil Barton, Trey Bruce, Bruce Wallace and more, culminating in lashings of pop and fusion of modern country and Americana stylings, yet still seamlessly linking back to Akers roots. True to her signature honesty and authenticity, the listener is taken on a vivid journey through family tribulations, love, loss and the tragedy of souls taken too soon.
