The Stag & Hunter Hotel two big nights of live music this week bringing 2016 to a close.
Friday, December 30th – Den Hanrahan with Gleny Rae Virus & Her Playboys – Den Hanrahan was born kicking and screaming and he’s not about to change. Likened to artists such as Steve Earle, Townes Van Zandt and Gillian Welch, Den’s music is his version of bluegrass and contemporary up-tempo acoustic/electric music. Born of one-night stands and roadhouses He’s not afraid to take his audience along for the ride. With his gutsy vocals, lively guitar playing and raw, stripped back style, His gigs are bold and upbeat, yet he maintains an intimacy with the audience as he weaves his way through tales of the lonely life on the road and the characters he has met traveling on it.
Steam powered hillbilly swing – Swing, not bling, grease not dust, laughter not tears, beer not whiskey, two-step not boot scooting. Gleny Rae Virus and her Playboys – Dougie Bull and Roy Payne – are taking a leaf from the book of Ray Charles by experimenting with modern sounds within an old genre.
Saturday, December 31st – The Stag has you all sorted for NYE 2016. Colin Jones & The Delta Revue are bringing the blues, Blues Bombers are packing the soul & The Hurricanes are locked and loaded to rock the house down. This is the last gig Kez is playing with the Blues Bombers boys after almost 13 years together, there is no better send off than one last loud show with all of us and all of you. Tickets $20 online or $25 at the door. events.ticketbooth.com.au
